The performance plays in a cold unheated old concrete factory building. Therefore please wear warm clothes and footwear.
We kindly inform audiences to be prepared for a standing and moving attendance during the full performance which will be app 1 hours.

CORONA: The authorities’ new guidelines on corona-passes do not apply to audiences at CRACKS, as we are fewer than 200 people for the performance in the large HAL9. We are generally very attentive and prepared for any new corona-initiatives and will inform audiences directly about this if necessary.

An unusual dance performance and installation inspired by science and nature.

The 90m long and bitter cold HAL9 in Roskilde forms the framework of Cracks, in which dancers along with extras and sound, light and video installations, evoke a world in which the human footprint is ever accelerating.

Life finds its way in between all the cracks. Life expands cracks. Life creates cracks.

And life’s power is enormous. It expresses itself in infinite forms. From oak to bacteria, from rain worm to hump whale, from radish to human –  it is one and the same mythical force that triggers everything.

We have the power to value and nourish life in all its forms and shapes – or not.

According to physicists life can create order out of chaos. Life can extract resources from the ground, and combine them in new ways and fantastic systems. In this way, life is both that which is threatened by the way we treat the planet, but it is also the solution – and that is where hope lies. We have the power to value and nourish life in all its shapes – or not.

The cracks shine a light on the invisible side of the world. As in a love story, we have to approach life’s hidden secrets with openness, respect and wonder. And make an effort every step of the way.

Cracks is created by the successful artist duo Thomas Eisenhardt and Catherine Poher. They have created a long list of known and loved shows at Aaben Dans – five of which have been nominated for the prestigious Reumert Award. Throughout their work the duo has developed their own exceptional language, which has been expressed by reviewers, for example in a review of their show “The hand on the heart”:

… Thomas Eisenhardt and Catherine Poher, as guiding magicians, have found a form, a scenic poetry, that is entirely their own. The show doesn’t resemble anything that is found on other stages, big or small.

composer Mads Emil Nielsen is creating the sound design and is the recipient of the Leonie Sonning Talent Prize.
